Midwest Tornadoes Leave Trail of Destruction

Multiple Tornadoes Touch Down in Iowa, Illinois, and Ohio

Chicago-Area Hit Hard with Power Outages, Downed Trees

A series of tornadoes swept through the Midwest on Monday night, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Two tornadoes were reported near Des Moines, Iowa, and another touched down just outside O'Hare Airport in Chicago.

The National Weather Service has confirmed at least five tornadoes touched down Monday night in the Chicago area, with at least 10 reported in total. The storms caused widespread power outages and downed trees, leaving many residents without power and struggling with cleanup efforts.

In addition to the tornadoes in Iowa and Illinois, another tornado was reported near Sugar Grove, Ohio. The National Weather Service issued 13 tornado warnings in Chicagoland, and at least 11 tornadoes are believed to have touched down in parts of the area. The storms prompted a brief tornado warning for parts of the Chicago area on Wednesday, as another storm cell moved through the region.
